Title: Integrated Chalcogenide Glass Photonics and Their Applications

Chalcogenide glasses have emerged as a promising material candidate for integrated photonics given their wide infrared transparency window and excellent linear and nonlinear optical properties. Through capitalizing on their unique low temperature monolithic integration capacity, we have developed a substrate-blind photonic integration technology to enable multifunctional, multi-layer photonic integration on virtually any technically important substrate platforms. Our initial works of high performance chalcogenide glass photonic devices on infrared crystal and polymer substrates have already showed the unique advantages to apply our technology in mid-infrared on-chip sensing and flexible photonics applications. With novel devices design and functional materials integration, we believed integrated chalcogenide glass photonics would have great potential in other emerging photonics applications.
林宏焘: 现任职麻省理工学院材料科学与工程系博士后研究员,
2010年本科毕业于中国科学技术大学材料科学与工程系,2015年于美国特拉华大学材料科学与工程系取得博士学位。主要研究方向为硫系玻璃集成光学以及其在中红外片上传感,柔性光子学等领域的应用。成果曾被美国光学学会选为2014重大光学进展,至今发表期刊论文20篇。
